[PART NINE] & Some News
Okay, I'm a little new at this so sorry if I mess this up first go. Because it's been 5 months since the last round even though we haven't been busy. I figured I might as well earn my keep and try to get this place alive again...

THE SOCIAL NETWORK KINK MEME

ASK THE MODS * FAQ * DISCUSSION * RESEARCH * FILL LIST * PART ONE * PART ONE (OVERFLOW) * PART TWO * PART TWO (OVERFLOW) * PART THREE * PART THREE (OVERFLOW) * PART FOUR * PART FIVE * PART SIX * PART SEVEN * PART EIGHT

GENERAL RULES;

IMPORTANT: please DO NOT post prompts about any non-public people as part of a prompt. for example: randi zuckerberg is fine as she is a public figure both on the internet and on facebook itself. priscilla chan is NOT as she is not a public figure.

if you're in doubt, please message the mod or leave a comment in the discussion post.

♥ post requests and responses in the comments to this post.
♥ be respectful.
♥ both a pairing/character AND a prompt/kink must be posted.
♥ one pairing/prompt per comment please.
♥ you are encouraged to try and write a prompt for every request you make.
♥ we are slash, femslash, het, three-and-moresomes etc. friendly. (we are even incest friendly what with some of our characters being twins and all...)
♥ no pairing bashing, OK? no need to wank over ships.
♥ long and short fics welcome. multiple responses encouraged!
♥ please try to refrain from saying 'seconded!' as much as possible.
♥ on RPF: Please disclaim that it is RPF, a work of fiction and in no way related to the actual actors/persons/etc. (i wouldn't even try and discourage RPF from this meme ;))
♥ WARN FOR COMMON TRIGGERS, PLEASE

FORMAT OF PROMPTS:

♥ alphabetize pairings/threesomes/moresomes. (e.g. Eduardo/Mark/Sean etc.)
♥ put [RPF] before RPF prompts. (e.g. [RPF] Andrew/Jesse)
♥ for crossover prompts: "[Crossover], The Social Network Character(s)/Other Character(s), [Fandom]" (e.g. [Crossover], Eduardo/Columbus, [Zombieland])

♥ no locked material. this includes communities, even if membership is open.
♥ fills can be posted anonymously or not.
♥ fills can be anything: fic, art, vid, fanmix, podfic, etc.
♥ all prompts are open to fills at all times, even if they have been filled in the past or are being currently filled by someone else. multiple fills are positively encouraged; if something appeals to you then do not be put off creating a new fill by the existence of a prior one.
NEW: ♥ PLEASE comment with the first of your fill to the PROMPT and then all future updates as a comment to the FIRST PART of the fill. this makes it easier for both the WIP spreadhseet and for archiving stuff on delicious. it also helps people who are trying to catch up on updates and don't have to look through every fill on the prompt (should it have more than one). thank you.

Hi, right now everyone is working on some changes so hold on new things are coming. In an effort to kick this place back into action, we're doing round 9. In a few days, we'll be setting up a fills post that hopefully will work directly for archiving and an overflow post. Also we'll be doing a friending meme at tsn_km_gather so be looking out for that. I know some of the other mods have plans of their own which will be coming soon.

If you have any questions or ideas that I can help you with, feel free to PM me. I'll be around.

Kitty

Eduardo/Mark + Beast

(Anonymous)
Mark isn't sure which is annoying him more...the fact that Beast has decided that Eduardo is his new Best Person Ever, or when Eduardo plays with Beast there is a a look of joy in his eyes Mark is sure has been directed towards *him* in the past.

Or - Eduardo goes to a shareholders meeting and Beast decides he loves Eduardo to bits. Mark is conflicted.

Fill, 1a/?

(Anonymous)
okay, this doesn't exactly fit the prompt because there's already an established relationship, but it's still new and fragile, but there will be Beast and Eduardo as his favorite person ever! SORRY, if someone wants to fill the actual prompt, please do!

One of the effects of living on the other side of the world is that Eduardo’s phone is always blown up with text alerts when he wakes up in the morning. Most of them are from Mark, who texts random comments and complaints about all of the people he “has to put up with all day,” fully aware that Eduardo is asleep and won’t answer them. Some of them are from Dustin, complaining about Mark. A handful of them are email alerts from overseas clients, but he ignores those until he gets to the office.

So Eduardo has taken to checking his phone as a sort of morning ritual. He reaches blindly for his alarm when it goes off, snags his phone off the bedside table and rolls onto his back, blinking at the light of the screen in the darkness.

He has four text messages, all of them from Dustin, and nothing at all from Mark, which makes Eduardo instantly suspicious.

CONGRATS MOM!!!! :D:D is what the first text received says, which makes little to no sense but this is Dustin, so Eduardo just clicks to the next one.

omg I don’t know if you should laugh or kill him but dude wake up soon pleeeeease

I mean you should kill mark, not the puppy

he told me to stop txting u but the puppy just peed on him & I have to commemorate this occasion somehow!!

Eduardo, admittedly, is still half asleep, so he squeezes his eyes shut, rubbing at them with his free hand, hoping that this will make sense when he reads the messages again. Maybe Dustin is drunk? His spelling is too impressive for him to be drunk.

Eduardo drops the phone onto his chest and falls back against the pillows, groaning at his ceiling. It’s a preemptive groan. He’s pretty sure that this means Mark has bought a puppy, which in turn means that Eduardo is going to have to figure out how to keep both Mark and a baby animal alive from 9,000 miles away, and he’s pretty sure that he’s allowed a moment of commiseration with his future self.

Taking a deep breath, he savors the warmth of his bed for another moment, then hauls himself upright, swallowing down the lingering sleepiness. Eduardo is, as Mark puts it, one of those “disgusting” morning people (as if he has any room to talk; Mark has probably seen more sunrises than Eduardo has, although sleep has preceded none of them). The clock says it’s barely six, weak sunlight sneaking through the backs of his curtains.
He doesn’t mind being awake this early, especially not because it means it’s early afternoon in Palo Alto, so he usually has time to chat with Mark while he gets ready for work.

He doesn’t trust his voice, so he types Mark, did you get a dog? and sends it off. His phone rings a moment later.

“’Lo?” Eduardo says, clearing his throat.

“Before you say anything I want you to know that none of this is a ploy to get you to move out here and marry me, don’t listen to Dustin, he’s deranged.”

Eduardo doesn’t know what to say to that, so he ignores it. “Mark, for God’s sake, what made you think you could handle taking care of a puppy?”

He’s mostly joking – well, maybe only halfway joking; the other half is still kind of terrified at the whole prospect of Mark plus puppy -- but there’s a beat of silence on the other end of the line instead of the quick comeback he was expecting.

“I didn’t – this wasn’t some impulse buy, I started researching this months ago.”

He wants to ask Mark why he never mentioned it before now if it was something he’d been planning for a while, but he swallows the words down. It’s only been a few months since they took their reconnection from tentative friendship to something more like ‘I don’t want to stop touching you so why bother,’ and Mark could have been planning this well beforehand.

Eduardo remembers his huge house, all hardwood floors and shiny appliances, the mess of video game controllers and DVD boxes littering the living room the only real sign that anyone lived there; Mark’s socked feet and his hands in his pockets when he’d shrugged and said Of course it looks nice, but why bother making it looked lived-in when I’m always at Facebook anyway?

Maybe Mark had decided on a dog as an excuse to go home other than to sleep or shower. Maybe, but Eduardo hadn’t missed the defensive set of his shoulders when he’d spoken. Back then – and had it really only been three months? – he was still panicking over his complete lack of anger towards Mark, still trying to remind himself that Mark’s well-being wasn’t something he was allowed to worry about anymore, but that had been the moment it changed. You shouldn’t be lonely, he’d said, but he hadn’t added not when you’ve got me. Not then, even though he’d wanted to.

Re: Fill, 1b/?

UNF Maaark!!! I'm so glad this prompt is being filled! I love everything so far.

This is so adorable - I love the new and careful feeling of the M/E relationship, how Eduardo feels like there are things Mark isn't telling him, and he makes missteps, but he still loves him so muuuuch.

Eduardo and Beast will be the cutest thing ever :)

Re: Fill, 1b/?

I really like this so far.

Re: Fill, 1b/?

Yes, yes, yes! The world needs more beast fic! I'm a proud dog owner and my old brother (18!) is an huge part of my life, and I think that beast is a big part of Mark's life and so, I'm hapoy that you are filling it, and LOL it's not an evil plot, but sure I think that it's a sort of self-test.

Re: Fill, 1b/?

Thank you! I have an old lab (12) who is pretty much my best friend in the world, and my brother just got a puppy, so I've been letting my brain wander away from me and just had to sit down and write it. :)

Re: Fill, 1b/?

This is adorable and I love it to bits.

“I was – no, I know you can raise a dog, but do you have time for this?” Eduardo says now.

“He’s crate trained,” Mark says, then mutters, “I think. I can take him to the office, the interns will love that. I’ve thought this through, Wardo.”

“Okay, okay.” Eduardo cuts himself off with a yawn. “Dustin said he peed on you.”

“He got a little excited.”

There’s a muffled sound of laughter in the background and Eduardo guesses that Dustin is still there helping Mark acclimate the dog, or possibly just there to annoy the hell out of him. Mark says “Dustin, shut. Up.” and Eduardo grins a little fondly to himself, briefly hating the darkness of his room in his apartment in Singapore, before Mark speaks up again and jars him out of it.

“I would have told you, but you would have talked me out of it.”

“True.” Eduardo gets up to shuffle into his kitchen, turning on the oven light and starting his single-cup coffee machine. “So what kind of dog is it? What’s his name?”

“I haven’t named him yet. He’s a Puli.”

“I have no idea what that is.”

“Hungarian sheepdog, can’t you Google?” Eduardo laughs, hearing the tease in Marks voice.

“Well, I’m sure he’ll have fun herding all your sheep.”

“That’s really clever.”

Eduardo laughs again and they fall into silence, Mark presumably occupied by puppy wrangling while Eduardo stands with the fridge door open, wondering idly if he has time for an actual breakfast.

“Hey, I’ll Skype you later?” Mark says eventually, something between a command and a question.

“Sure, I want to see him.”

“You should see him in person.”

“Mark.”

“I know. But tonight, when you get home, okay?”

He can’t say no to that. They agree on a time before Mark hangs up, saying that Dustin has disappeared with the puppy, which can’t be a good sign. Eduardo does end up frying some eggs, trying to picture Mark walking a dog or cleaning up after it. Maybe he’ll just hire people for that? Doesn’t seem like something Mark would do, though; ‘if you want something done right’ and all.

He does Google Hungarian sheepdog late (because he isn’t sure how to spell Puli) then stares at the screen for a good few minutes before picking up his phone.

A Puli? Are you serious?

yes.

Mark, your dog is going to look like a mop.

no, he’s going to look like a sheepdog w/ highly functional, waterproof hair.

Dreadlocks.

yes.

Eduardo clicks around his browser, looking at photos of Pulis – black, white, show dogs with ridiculous mop-like curls of hair and the more frizzy-haired family dogs, some wearing bows in their fur. Bows. While sitting in a field with sheep. He’d say that it’s not the kind of dog he’d imagine Mark with, but he can’t really imagine Mark with a dog at all, so it might as well be this kind, he supposes.

A cat. He could definitely see Mark with a cat.

Eduardo didn’t have a dog growing up and was constantly warned away from strays. In Miami most of his friends had family dogs, but he never felt like he was missing something just because he was without pet. Did the Zuckerbergs have a dog? He doesn’t know.

He fires up his laptop a little early that night, waiting for Mark to answer his Skype call. It’s 7, so Mark is either up already or he’s just about to wake up. Eduardo is contemplating calling Mark’s actual cellphone when the Skype call finally connects. The image is blurry at first, Mark sitting too close to the camera while he adjusts the screen, but then he sits back and the image sharpens.

Mark’s hair is still mussed and it’s immediately evident that he’s had a rough night, but he’s got a lapful of white, fluffy, squirming puppy. Eduardo had been picturing a black dog, but isn’t all that surprised at the fact that Mark had tracked down a rarer color.

The combination of puppy and Mark’s sleep-soft expression has Eduardo’s face pulling into a smile before he even realizes it. “Hi,” he says, and Mark opens his mouth to speak but the puppy starts squirming harder than ever, half-lunging away from where Mark is sitting on the floor. Mark manages to catch him around his middle and haul him back into his lap, rolling his eyes.

“Hey,” Mark sighs, once the puppy is secure and Eduardo has stopped laughing.

Re: Fill, 2b/?

(Anonymous)
“He’s bigger than I expected.” Unlike the Puli puppies Eduardo saw online that could be held one-handed, tufts of fur and watery eyes, Mark’s puppy fills his lap, eyes bright and tongue lolling out.

“He’s three months,” Mark says, “and he’s smaller than he looks. He’s just –”

“ -- Fluffy.”

“Dogs tend to be fluffy, Wardo, I don’t know why you’re surprised,” Mark says dryly, but he’s smiling a little, hands under the puppy’s arms to hold him back and keep his wet tongue away from the laptop.

“He’s cute. Looks a little bit like a polar bear.”

Mark squints but doesn’t comment, which is good because Eduardo is currently trying to school his face into a more non-plussed expression. He’s pretty sure he’s failing, because it’s a seriously cute puppy and his fingers are itching to reach through the screen and scratch its little puppy ears, and Eduardo is hit for the second time in less than twenty-four hours with a yearning to be there, in Palo Alto, with Mark. He doesn’t let the irony of that sink in.

“Don’t look at him like that, he’s a terror.”

“I can guess. How much sleep did you get?”

That sets Mark off on a tirade about how the puppy was supposed to be crate-trained but was up half the night whining in his cage, wanting to be let out, refusing to go back into his cage, and then starting up with the noise again once Mark managed to get him back in there.

“It’s a vicious cycle, Wardo.”

“I thought you did your research.”

Mark sighs again. “I did. I researched dog breeds and compatibility with their owners, training methods, what to feed them, and where to buy them. It’s just the first day, I can handle it.”

He’s defensive, but there’s a note of patience in Mark’s voice that throws Eduardo for a second. Mark could sleep through an earthquake (and has, on multiple occasions), and Eduardo knows firsthand that he can successfully ignore any external stimuli, and yet he kept getting up to take care of this dog.

Mark can handle it. He’s not nineteen anymore. Eduardo still has to remind himself of the fact.

“So!” Eduardo says lightly, getting more comfortable in his desk chair, “Tell me about this,” and he waves his hand in a circle at his laptop screen, a gesture meant to encompass the whole situation.

Re: Fill, 2c/?

(Anonymous)
sorry for the double post of 2b, it's late and I'm sleepy!

The puppy has given up on attacking the screen and has settled with his head hanging over Mark’s knee, eyes shut tight. “I decided on a Puli something like four months ago and found a breeder in Oregon who had a pregnant dog, so I made a claim on one of the puppies—”

“You can do that?”

“Obviously, yes, you can. So I had to wait until they were born and then another eight weeks until they were weaned.” Mark frowns a little, hands carding though the puppy’s fur. “I wanted him as soon as possible, apparently they imprint on humans during the first couple of weeks after weaning. But then I was in Seattle and I couldn’t take him, and then it apparently takes a week to coordinate driving a puppy across state lines – efficiency is clearly not a priority in the dog business – and when he finally arrived he had to spend two days quarantined at the vet.”

“Quarantined?”

Mark, whose eyes had flickered away from the webcam and drifted sideways as he spoke, looks back sharply and shakes his head. “He was fine. They wanted to make sure he hadn’t contracted anything from the trip, and I told them he couldn’t; he’d had his vaccines before he left, but whatever.”

“Poor guy,” Eduardo says, and Mark shrugs.

“We picked him up yesterday.” Mark’s voice lowers. “Dustin wasn’t supposed to say anything.”

“Aw come on, he was excited,” Eduardo tries, but Mark is still glowering. Eduardo thinks he wanted to tell you himself and his stomach does something odd and not unpleasant. He looks at Mark, webcam lighting deepening the shadows on his face, at the now completely asleep puppy in his lap and his threadbare t-shirt.

“You should meet him,” Mark says suddenly.

Eduardo immediately blurts “I want to,” even though he knows that will set Mark off to scheming about how to lure Eduardo away from work and back to the states, but he can’t help himself. “I’ll – I can’t promise anything, but I’ll talk to Rena, okay?”

“Is she the one who made you come to f8?”

Eduardo nods, thinking of seeing Mark there at the conference for the first time in years and how oddly proud he was to be there, to look around and think I helped build this without bitterness.

“I like her,” Mark says simply, and the corner of his mouth lifts in a smile, as if this is an inside joke they’re sharing. Eduardo smiles back.

They end the call shortly thereafter because Mark needs time to feed the dog and walk him before getting to work. Mark jostles the dog when he leans forward to disconnect the call, and Eduardo catches the fleeting glimpse of a puppy yawn before the screen cuts to black. He finds himself smiling bemusedly at the blank screen for a minute or two, has to shake himself out of it.

A puppy, honestly. Despite his initial misgivings, somehow, it fits.

this is killing me with its adorableness.

Re: Fill, 2c/?

Your characterization of Mark is so fantastic, and this is, of course, the most adorable thing I've ever read. ♥

Re: Fill, 2c/?

OMG, it's adorable! And I really consider Sorking!Mark a dog person :)

Who are his best friends? Wardo and Dustin (tsn!Chris is too much a background character to can have a serious canon) who are what you could consider "dog" (loyal, taking care of you, etc...).
What is the "breaking point" of his friendship with Eduardo? Wardo wasn't with him. And a dog, if you give it the chance, is always with you, it'll follow you to the end of the world and back.

I really love this fill!
