[PART NINE] & Some News
Okay, I'm a little new at this so sorry if I mess this up first go. Because it's been 5 months since the last round even though we haven't been busy. I figured I might as well earn my keep and try to get this place alive again...

IMPORTANT: please DO NOT post prompts about any non-public people as part of a prompt. for example: randi zuckerberg is fine as she is a public figure both on the internet and on facebook itself. priscilla chan is NOT as she is not a public figure.

if you're in doubt, please message the mod or leave a comment in the discussion post.

♥ post requests and responses in the comments to this post.
♥ be respectful.
♥ both a pairing/character AND a prompt/kink must be posted.
♥ one pairing/prompt per comment please.
♥ you are encouraged to try and write a prompt for every request you make.
♥ we are slash, femslash, het, three-and-moresomes etc. friendly. (we are even incest friendly what with some of our characters being twins and all...)
♥ no pairing bashing, OK? no need to wank over ships.
♥ long and short fics welcome. multiple responses encouraged!
♥ please try to refrain from saying 'seconded!' as much as possible.
♥ on RPF: Please disclaim that it is RPF, a work of fiction and in no way related to the actual actors/persons/etc. (i wouldn't even try and discourage RPF from this meme ;))

♥ alphabetize pairings/threesomes/moresomes. (e.g. Eduardo/Mark/Sean etc.)
♥ put [RPF] before RPF prompts. (e.g. [RPF] Andrew/Jesse)
♥ for crossover prompts: "[Crossover], The Social Network Character(s)/Other Character(s), [Fandom]" (e.g. [Crossover], Eduardo/Columbus, [Zombieland])
♥ no "!" in pairings, only in descriptions. (e.g. Eduardo/Mark, FacebookCreator!Eduardo, CFO!Mark)
♥ anyone, everyone, no one? Use "Other." (e.g. Sean/Other)
♥ Please do not repost prompts from earlier rounds
♥ put [GEN] before GEN prompts.

♥ please don't embed. link to images/videos.
♥ no locked material. this includes communities, even if membership is open.
♥ fills can be posted anonymously or not.
♥ fills can be anything: fic, art, vid, fanmix, podfic, etc.
♥ all prompts are open to fills at all times, even if they have been filled in the past or are being currently filled by someone else. multiple fills are positively encouraged; if something appeals to you then do not be put off creating a new fill by the existence of a prior one.
NEW: ♥ PLEASE comment with the first of your fill to the PROMPT and then all future updates as a comment to the FIRST PART of the fill. this makes it easier for both the WIP spreadhseet and for archiving stuff on delicious. it also helps people who are trying to catch up on updates and don't have to look through every fill on the prompt (should it have more than one). thank you.

Hi, right now everyone is working on some changes so hold on new things are coming. In an effort to kick this place back into action, we're doing round 9. In a few days, we'll be setting up a fills post that hopefully will work directly for archiving and an overflow post. Also we'll be doing a friending meme at tsn_km_gather so be looking out for that. I know some of the other mods have plans of their own which will be coming soon.

If you have any questions or ideas that I can help you with, feel free to PM me. I'll be around.

have fun!

THERE WILL BE UNMARKED SPOILERS. enter at your own risk! :D

i know you guys are enjoying this meme and i appreciate that but please can you put the SUBJECT HEADER on your prompt. you would REALLY be helping me out if you could do that. it just saves time for me when i'm trying to tag everything in delicious.

AND PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT repost prompts from parts three, four, five, six, seven, or eight. the delicious is around for people to find prompts they may not have already seen. We know there's been some issues but we're working on it with pinboard. No duplicates from this round either. THANK YOU.

Mark/Eduardo - HighSchool AU - Casimir Pulaski Day

Okay, this is inspired by Sufjan Steven's Casimir Pulaski Day. I've actually had this idea a long time ago but never gotten around to prompting it, and when I was listening to the song again it came back to me.

So here's how it goes.
Mark - geeky socially inept boy with brilliant mind, and wardo his sweet beautiful best friend with family/daddy issues. They've been friends since they were kids. As they grew older though, Mark starts to develop a crush on wardo. And, one day they found out that Wardo has been diagnosed with some kind of a terminal illness.

I really want a fic where it explores how they grew up together, (with mark helping wardo escape horrible nights in his house, and other beautiful/sweet things that happen along the way), mark realizing his love for wardo, and then having to cope with losing his best friend.

This is basically just full of angst? lol, idk. sorry. I really hope someone would be interested to fill it. It's been sitting on the back of my mind for so long.

[FILL] Casmir Pulaski Day AU part 1a

Macroeconomics glass was anything but interesting, and the professor whose class Eduardo had just switched into was even worse than the last one.

The auditorium was bigger than the last one too. Eduardo stood aside of the door and looked for a place to sit. A few people were sitting on groups, but most were just scattered about the rows of seats. Class hadn’t begun yet. Eduardo slipped into a seat near the back, placing his coffee in the cup holder and pulling out his laptop and getting himself situated, not really wanting to draw attention to himself. Two other people sat in the row with him, a ginger and a curly-haired kid holding some kind of typewriter. Eduardo paid it no mind.

The lesson droned on. The curly kid, about six seats down from Eduardo, tapped away on his typewriter, occasionally whispering to the ginger next to him. The professor’s voice sounded eerily similar to the drone of a vacuum cleaner, and it was too easy to rest your cheek on your fist and fall asleep, which is what several students seemed to be doing already.

There was a five minute break in the middle of the three hour long class. Some students left, some didn’t. Eduardo’s row was and most of the seats around him were vacated; it seemed most of them wanted to get out as quick as possible.

Mark was six when the new neighbors moved in across the street. Erica’s family had moved out a few months ago, and Mark was very glad for that, because Erica had never been nice to him. But they’d still played together, just because they were the only two kids in the neighborhood, they made mud pies after it rained until Erica would start fling it at him and then storm off when Mark said he didn’t want to play with her any more. Since she’d left, Mark hadn’t had anyone in the neighborhood to play with.

So he was happy, of course, when he watched the new cars pull into the driveway and saw a little boy jump out of the backseat. He sat on the front steps and played with a stick in the dirt while his mother and father went back and forth.

Mark, who was too young to be pessimistic or fearful, jumped over the row of bushes dividing their yards and scurried right over to his new best friend.

“Hi! My name’s Mark and it looks like we’re neighbors now! Do you want to go play?”

Eduardo looked a little startled. Like he wasn’t used to having people walk up and ask to play with him. He still held the stick in his hand, the end of it trailing in the dirt. He looked at Mark’s jelly-stained Buzz Lightyear t-shirt and his wrinkled shorts and Velcro sneakers, and Mark looked at his children’s red polo shirt and khaki pants and laces that were tied as well as perfectly and tight as Mark’s were always messy and coming undone, which is why he wore the Velcro sneakers so he wouldn’t trip.

Eduardo stood up. “Okay! Let me go tell my mommy.”

He scurried inside the house, and a few minutes later, he came walking back out with a person who Eduardo might look like if he was a female and twenty years older. There were introductions, and then Mark showed Eduardo how to jump over the line of bushes instead of walking all the way around them and they scurried into Mark’s yard so they wouldn’t “get under the grown-ups’ feet.”

“I have a swing,” said Mark, looking at his new best friend, wide-eyed. “And a sandbox and a slide, those are all in the back yard. I have shovels and buckets and we can make sand castles!”

So they did. That’s all it takes for little kids to get along, of course, a big, wide sandbox and a task to share of making The Coolest Sand Castle Ever. They shared the work of digging the holes and packing the sand in, and Mark brought the hose over to get the sand wet so it would stay compact, and soon it started to rain.

“It’s raining!” Eduardo pointed out the obvious, the way children do, “I should go home now.”

[FILL] Casmir Pulaski Day AU part 1b

Before Eduardo could respond, Mark had taken his hand and was pulling him over to tree at the corner of the yard. There was a patch of dirt under it, and that was the day Eduardo learned the joy of making mudpies, of getting your clothes and your face messy, of getting wet and sticky and muddy without caring about what it did to your clothes. And everything was perfect until Eduardo’s father came over into the yard to look for him, and found his son’s clothes and hair ruined, and that was when Mark learned that there were parents that were not happy when their kids got wet and sticky and muddy.

“Eduardo! What in the name of the Lord do you think you’re doing?”

There was just enough time for Eduardo to whisper “oh no” before his father crossed the yard in a few big strides and yanked his son up from the mud pit by his arm. “Playing in the mud – can’t you see what you’re doing to your clothes?! You’ve got mud all over them, just look at you – what have I told you about keeping clean?”

“But you said Mark and I could play together!”

Mr. Saverin glared down at Mark, who was still sitting in the mud puddle as comfortably as if he was in a bathtub (Well, maybe not, Mark himself hated baths and would much rather go without them). “I did not think,” Mr. Saverin said, “that you would disregard everything your mother and I have taught you about keeping yourself neat and clean just to ‘play’ with the barbarian child I am looking at. If you ever want to come back here again, you’ll get your tail back home right now!”

Mark didn’t know what the word ‘barbarian’ meant, but he knew it wasn’t good. He was frightened for Eduardo, and guilty that he’d urged him to do this. He felt responsible and he felt sad, and he didn’t see Eduardo the rest of the day because soon his mother was calling him in for dinner, and he wasn’t in much of a mood to play anymore anyway.

“Some parents have different rules, sweetheart. You just need to keep that in mind when you’re playing with other kids. You didn’t know what would happen, it’s not your fault. I’m sure Eduardo’s father will understand and he’ll still you play together – we’re neighbors, after all, it’d be hard for him not to allow it. Don’t worry. Just be more careful next time.” And that was all Mark’s mother said on the subject. So he went to bed that night, dressed in Buzz Lightyear pajamas, and he wondered what it would be like to have sleepovers, to play with trains and model airplanes and do puzzles all night.

His window looked right across the lawn and into Eduardo’s bedroom, but Eduardo had already been sent to bed by that time.

[FILL] Casmir Pulaski Day AU part 1c

The next day was Monday, so Mark couldn’t see Eduardo until after school. When the bus dropped him off, he gave his mother his backpack and raced off to his neighbor’s house. He knocked on the door, once, twice, three times, then rang the doorbell, then knocked again.

Mrs. Saverin opened the door. Mark asked, without self-consciousness, “Can Eduardo and I play?”

“Of course, sweetheart. Just do stay out of the mud, alright, dear?”

“Yes Ma’am!”

Eduardo was called down and he appeared in the doorway a few short moments later. He looked a little scared, a little sad. Mark remembered the day before and wondered if he’d been in too much trouble. He really hoped not, he liked Eduardo.

Eduardo came outside, and Mark immediately noticed that he was walking funny, and he pointed this out. “Oh, yeah, right, um,” Wardo mumbled, “I got in trouble last night cause of getting mud all over my clothes and my daddy switched me.”

“Oh,” said Mark. He didn’t think that was fair, but when he told his mom, she said pretty much the same thing that she had the night before. That Eduardo’s parents just worked differently and he couldn’t do anything about it.

Eduardo was a year older than Mark, and he was in the second grade, so they didn’t see each other at school except for during recess. At this time, Mark showed Eduardo how to do flips on the monkey bars and Eduardo helped Mark learn to jump rope and hula hoop. “We loved playing double dutch back home in Brazil, all the kids in the neighborhood, but you can’t play that till you know how to use just the single rope first.”

They’d lie on the grass and Eduardo would tell Mark about his home in Brazil, tell him how different everything was from here, tell him about the foods they ate and the games they played. Mark would tell Eduardo about all of the teachers, those that he knew hid candy in their desks and would give you some if you asked really nicely, the ones that were really mean and you didn’t want to make angry.

They shared books and toys and stories and stickers. They were best friends right away, and they stayed that way.

[FILL] Casmir Pulaski Day AU part 1d

The summer comes. Mark’s first real summer with a real friend. They spend most of it at the pond down across the road, catching frogs and caterpillars and climbing trees (Mark will give Eduardo some of his clothes to wear when they play, so he can change back into his own clean clothes after and his daddy won’t be mad at him. Those days pass by easily, as they do when you’re six and seven years old, days of riding on the back of Mark’s father’s tractor, begging for rides again and again, building and jumping into piles of the fresh grass clippings, of eating peanut butter sandwiches and sipping juice boxes on Mark’s front porch; evenings of catching fireflies, of chasing each other around the house by the glow of the porch lights; nights making blanket forts in Mark’s bedroom and then going to sleep together underneath them.

Eduardo experiences his first Fourth of July in America; Mark’s parents have a barbecue in the front yard. Eduardo and Mark eat hot dogs and curly fries to their hearts’ delight (Eduardo’s parents still haven’t caught on to the traditionally American foods) and their parents give them sparklers and face paint to play with. They smear red-white-and-blue over each other’s faces, run in circles around the yard with the sparklers until it’s time to go downtown for the firework show. When they get home that night, they’re tired enough to go to bed right away, sharing Mark’s bed even though it’s hardly big enough for one of them.

School begins again. Second grade for Mark and third for Eduardo; Mrs. Powell’s and Ms. Gannon’s classes respectively. Their days are school and recess and homework, and their evenings are playing basketball in Mark’s driveway with the hoop they just installed and sitting at each other’s tables for dinner (Mark actually learns to love some of the weird Brazillian foods, especialy the acarajé and Eduardo has his fill of mac and cheese and Oreos), and nights are leaning out their bedroom windows to talk to each other about their days’ adventures until one of them falls asleep.

In May, when the public swimming pool opens for the season, Eduardo helps Mark learn to swim. There was a lake down the block from his house, he tells Mark, that all the kids would play in and if you didn’t want to be left alone when everyone else was playing you had to learn to swim. They train in the kiddie pool until Mark’s mother is satisfied enough to let her son venture into the shallow end.

Near the end of the school year Mark’s family gets the news. Mark’s been doing well enough in school to skip third grade and go right up to fourth – which means he’ll be in Eduardo’s class! His parents aren’t sure about it, but Eduardo promises to help him, and over the summer in-between their hours of playing they work on long division and multiplication at the table in Mark’s kitchen. On days when it rains, and it does a lot that summer, they whittle the hours away with arts and crafts, jumping on couch cushions and playing with Mark’s enormous collection of toy dinosaurs.

[FILL] Casmir Pulaski Day AU part 1e

Sometimes, they get too messy or they stay out too late and Eduardo’s father gets angry with them again. One day, Mark watches from his window when Eduardo cuts a piece of a branch off a tree and Mark doesn’t understand what he’s doing until he can’t sit down the next day. This happens a lot, and Mark always feels sorry for his best friend, so on these days they stretch out on the floor in Mark’s room and read books or draw or build roller coasters with Mark’s new construction set. All his mother says about it is that’s how they discipline kids in Brazil. Mark hates it, but on these days all he can do is try to cheer his best friend up.

FILL Casmir Pulaski Day AU 2a

In fifth grade, they learn about sex. One of the kids in their class passes around a magazine at recess, filled with pictures of naked bodies of women – and men, but mostly women. The boys sit in a circle under a big tree, gawking at the pictures – “What’s this?” and “What are they doing?”

“It’s called sex,” Eduardo tells Mark when they get a hold of one of the magazines for themselves (Mark steals it out of one of his classmates’ desks). “It’s where babies come from.”

“Is this sort of stuff supposed to be nice for boys to look at?” Mark asked, looking over at a picture of a naked woman with her legs spread wide.

“I guess so, but it’s actually kind of scary.”

“Can I see yours?”

“My what?”

“Your penis.”

Mark had never seen another naked person before, not in real life, but somehow the two of them knew it wasn’t something they should do at school. So they showed eachother, back at home, under the big oak tree in Mark’s back yard, and it was normal kids’ stuff, curiosity, and they didn’t think anything of it.

FILL Casmir Pulaski Day 2b

They’re starting to grow up now, both having reached the double-digits in age. Some of the baby toys get thrown out, the dinosaurs and army men and building blocks, and they’re replaced by video games and footballs. Mark and Eduardo, though, will never admit it if you ask them, but a couple times they sneak into Eduardo’s moms bathroom and use her makeup all over their faces. The one time they get caught, they’re both in big trouble, but that doesn’t stop them from their fun; they learn how to be sneaky and devious, and, most importantly, how to lie. In the middle of the night, they sneak away and go up to the 7-Eleven and spend their allowances on chips and candy that they hide in a secret stash under Mark’s bed. At night, Mark will toss the packs of candy from his window to Eduardo’s, and they spend their weeknights eating Doritos and Life Savers and their weekend nights sharing one of their beds. They’re almost never apart.

And then they go to middle school, and there’s classes and homework and more teachers and less time.

“I don’t want to be a buisinessman,” Eduardo admits to Mark when they’re lying in his bed, as if that wasn’t already obvious. “That’s all my dad wants me to do. Like, he wants me to run a company and do accounting and stuff, but that’s not what I want at all, you know? I don’t know how to tell him that.”

Eduardo’s father is, to put it kindly, strict. At the end of the day, Eduardo has to sit down and do his homework for three hours, and if he gets so much as a ‘B’ on one test (heaven forbid he get one in a whole class), well… his ass isn’t a pretty sight. It’s actually only because of their study sessions and Mark’s concern for Eduardo to do well that leads to his excellence with his grades. Sixth grade is a time of puberty, of acne and painful growth spurts (more in Eduardo’s department than Mark’s; by the end of the year he’s a good four inches taller than him) and, significantly, a time of porn. Mark discovers the site, and they hide under Mark’s bedcovers and watch the videos with equal parts repulse, wonder and unfamiliar arousal.

“I don’t get it,” Eduardo said, fingering through the pages, and Mark was glad of that because he didn’t either.

“Is this supposed to be nice to look at?”

It was so foreign to them, especially Eduardo, a child who had grown up so very sheltered and didn’t even know the word ‘sex’ until just now. They’d hide under Mark’s bed and watch the videos like they were some strange addiction. It felt like they were doing something forbidden, and for a while, Mark didn’t know what to think of himself. What especially confused him was how the women’s body parts – their tits and pussies, Mark learned the names of – were supposed to be attractive to the men. It just didn’t make sense.

FILL Casmir Pulaski Day 2c

It wasn’t long after that that they discovered gay porn, and these they watched together under Mark’s blanket, but Eduardo never seemed to like those so Mark learned to keep them to himself. Mark also catches on pretty quickly that in middle school, boys can’t wear pink

Sixth grade is studying, math tests and history and science projects and for Mark, watching porn and jacking himself off in his room when no one’s home. The afternoons are playing basketball and soccer in Mark’s backyard, quizzing each other on the state capitols and the presidents and the chemical symbols. Watching movies in Mark’s basement and eating popcorn, drinking soda and chowing down on junk food so Mark’s mom will yell at them in the morning about eating better and going to bed earlier, and they’ll just giggle and run off to school.

They’re both the “weird kids” – Mark’s already the brainiac, and when he’s not spending time with Eduardo he’s spending it on the computer. Not with video games, like most kids his age, but he learns to code over Winter Break as an escape from his family. He teaches himself HTML and CSS through and through in ten days, and over the next week he learns Java. For once, Mark feels like he has a grasp on something important and special, and it becomes his obsession.

When he obsession isn’t Eduardo, that is. He doesn’t know what this new feeling is.

Seventh grade is more classes and more studying and even less friends. Mark teaches himself Java, he gets his homework done in the afternoon and spends the rest of the day coding. His teachers are baffled by his work and his wit, and he’s offered to skip another grade, but that would mean being apart from Eduardo, so he refuses.

Sometimes at night, Eduardo sneaks over to Mark’s house to sleep in his bed with him, when he’s had a fight with his father and he’s fearful and lonely – Eduardo worries about everything. Mark likes to take things one day at a time and deal with problems as they come, but Eduardo worries about things that are years away, like high school and college and jobs. He has a right, though, with his father breathing down his neck every second, expecting good grades, punishing him if he doesn’t get them.

“I just don’t want to be what he wants me to be,” Eduardo says, under the glimmer of Mark’s glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling and walls. “And he doesn’t want me to be what I want. He’s never wanted for me what I want for myself. And I can’t just tell him that I don’t want to be a businessman.”

FFILL casmir pulaski day AU 2d

Eduardo rolled over. He always fell asleep quickly, and so Mark just lied there, listening to his best friend breathing.

Kids at school were starting tio get girlfriends and boyfriends. There were couples everywhere who were also learning that they could use a hidden corner of the hallway to make out, or they just did it right in front of everyone. Teachers always tried to make them stop, but they’d go right back at it whenever backs were turned.

This is all I can think of to write right now, will post more later, thank you. This has little to no proofreading.
