[PART NINE] & Some News
Okay, I'm a little new at this so sorry if I mess this up first go. Because it's been 5 months since the last round even though we haven't been busy. I figured I might as well earn my keep and try to get this place alive again...

IMPORTANT: please DO NOT post prompts about any non-public people as part of a prompt. for example: randi zuckerberg is fine as she is a public figure both on the internet and on facebook itself. priscilla chan is NOT as she is not a public figure.

if you're in doubt, please message the mod or leave a comment in the discussion post.

♥ post requests and responses in the comments to this post.
♥ be respectful.
♥ both a pairing/character AND a prompt/kink must be posted.
♥ one pairing/prompt per comment please.
♥ you are encouraged to try and write a prompt for every request you make.
♥ we are slash, femslash, het, three-and-moresomes etc. friendly. (we are even incest friendly what with some of our characters being twins and all...)
♥ no pairing bashing, OK? no need to wank over ships.
♥ long and short fics welcome. multiple responses encouraged!
♥ please try to refrain from saying 'seconded!' as much as possible.
♥ on RPF: Please disclaim that it is RPF, a work of fiction and in no way related to the actual actors/persons/etc. (i wouldn't even try and discourage RPF from this meme ;))

♥ alphabetize pairings/threesomes/moresomes. (e.g. Eduardo/Mark/Sean etc.)
♥ put [RPF] before RPF prompts. (e.g. [RPF] Andrew/Jesse)
♥ for crossover prompts: "[Crossover], The Social Network Character(s)/Other Character(s), [Fandom]" (e.g. [Crossover], Eduardo/Columbus, [Zombieland])
♥ no "!" in pairings, only in descriptions. (e.g. Eduardo/Mark, FacebookCreator!Eduardo, CFO!Mark)
♥ anyone, everyone, no one? Use "Other." (e.g. Sean/Other)
♥ Please do not repost prompts from earlier rounds
♥ put [GEN] before GEN prompts.

♥ please don't embed. link to images/videos.
♥ no locked material. this includes communities, even if membership is open.
♥ fills can be posted anonymously or not.
♥ fills can be anything: fic, art, vid, fanmix, podfic, etc.
♥ all prompts are open to fills at all times, even if they have been filled in the past or are being currently filled by someone else. multiple fills are positively encouraged; if something appeals to you then do not be put off creating a new fill by the existence of a prior one.
NEW: ♥ PLEASE comment with the first of your fill to the PROMPT and then all future updates as a comment to the FIRST PART of the fill. this makes it easier for both the WIP spreadhseet and for archiving stuff on delicious. it also helps people who are trying to catch up on updates and don't have to look through every fill on the prompt (should it have more than one). thank you.

Hi, right now everyone is working on some changes so hold on new things are coming. In an effort to kick this place back into action, we're doing round 9. In a few days, we'll be setting up a fills post that hopefully will work directly for archiving and an overflow post. Also we'll be doing a friending meme at tsn_km_gather so be looking out for that. I know some of the other mods have plans of their own which will be coming soon.

If you have any questions or ideas that I can help you with, feel free to PM me. I'll be around.

have fun!

THERE WILL BE UNMARKED SPOILERS. enter at your own risk! :D

i know you guys are enjoying this meme and i appreciate that but please can you put the SUBJECT HEADER on your prompt. you would REALLY be helping me out if you could do that. it just saves time for me when i'm trying to tag everything in delicious.

AND PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT repost prompts from parts three, four, five, six, seven, or eight. the delicious is around for people to find prompts they may not have already seen. We know there's been some issues but we're working on it with pinboard. No duplicates from this round either. THANK YOU.

Mark/Eduardo - Facebook shares

Inspired by this: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m47fhr9KIP1qdnupfo1_1280.png

Eduardo calls Mark to congratulate him on the Facebook public float, make up fic is preferable but whether there's porn or not is up to the author ;)

fill: the atlantic was born today (1/3)

ignore the stupid title, the lack of sex, and the excess of FEELINGS WHERE THEY ALL COME FROM WHY DO THESE BOYS DO THIS TO ME. also, who_love is the worst, the WORST. <333

It takes a while for Mark to place the voice over the phone, and he’ll blame that on the amount of alcohol he’s consumed over the course of the night, as well as the fact that it’s after 4 am and he still hasn’t crashed from last night’s Hackathon. He rubs his eyes with one palm and, trying not to yawn, says, “Thanks?”

There is a chuckle, tired and gravelly, and this Mark can place. He is suddenly very, very awake, and he sits up straight from where he’d flopped onto his couch upon finally returning home. “Eduardo?”

“Yeah,” Eduardo says. “I’m sure you’re sick of hearing that, but—”

“You too,” Mark blurts out quickly, immediately feeling himself flush and glad that he’s alone, for the first time in what feels like ages. There is no one here but Beast, curled up on Mark’s favorite armchair like a sleeping, breathing cotton ball. “I mean, congratulations to you, too. This isn’t just—yeah.”

“Thanks, Mark,” Eduardo says, and he sounds even more tired now. Mark frowns, mentally calculating the time difference and confirming that it’s only around 7 pm where Eduardo is.

“Are you sick? You sound weird.”

Eduardo chuckles again, prompting Mark to add, “Are you drunk?” part honestly asking, and partly just to hear him laugh a little more. It’s still a good sound, and Eduardo delivers, and Mark smiles to himself, small and secret, because no one is here to see it but Beast.

“I’m fine. You must be really tired, it’s really late. I just wanted to say—”

“I’m not tired,” Mark says hurriedly, lying blatantly. There is an awkward little silence that follows, and Mark stubbornly refuses to fill it.

“You’ve been awake for nearly 48 hours,” Eduardo says flatly, and Mark rolls his eyes.

“Okay, it’s kind of creepy that you know that, but whatever, it’s been a crazy 48 hours. Not exactly the kind where you can just go to sleep like—whatever. I—I’m glad you called.” Mark closes his eyes, because he had meant for that to sound more gracious and less defensive, but Eduardo chuckles again, and he sounds just the tiniest bit more energized.

“I’m outside your house,” Eduardo tells him, and Mark blinks.

“Okay. That’s even creepier. Why are you—” Mark cuts himself off, because he realizes that that’s the wrong question. In fact, he shouldn’t even be asking anything. He should be unlocking his door. “Come inside.”

Beast wakes up when Mark hurries past him to his front door, and trots alongside him to let Eduardo in. Eduardo is walking up his driveway with his hands in his jacket pocket, and he gives Mark and Beast a self-conscious little wave as he nears them. “Hi,” he says, and Mark stares at him, stares at his loose tie and stupidly nice dress slacks and the way his hair is kind of sticking up all over the place, like he’s been running his hands through it.

Mark should be creeped out by the sight of Eduardo’s car parked down the road. He should feel awkward with Eduardo on his front porch, because Eduardo looks awkward and he looks cautiously afraid of Beast, too. But he actually just feels weirdly happy to see him, in the same weird way he hadn’t wanted him to get off the phone.

“Are you even allowed to be here?” Mark says, so he doesn’t say all of that. It doesn’t help with the awkward thing and Eduardo’s shoulders slump, though he tries valiantly for a wry smile.

“I haven’t been banned yet, don’t worry. Though the people at Customs really didn’t appreciate me putting down my reason for being here as ‘it’s complicated.’”

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (2/3)

Mark returns the smile, ducking his head and stepping back to let Eduardo inside. He doesn’t smell like booze, which Mark has still been sort of expecting, just from things he’s heard and could only really half-believe. He’s relieved, embarrassingly, and Eduardo catches his look and lets his smile drop completely, now frowning and shoving his hands back in his pocket.

“I’m not drunk, God.”

“Good,” Mark says, and he shrugs. “I’m a little drunk.”

“Understandably,” Eduardo says, and he’s just standing in Mark’s front hallway, still more awkward than Mark’s ever seen him. He’s obviously waiting for an invitation to sit down or maybe for Mark to change his mind and kick him out. Neither if that is really Mark’s style, so he shrugs again and starts heading into the kitchen.

“I have beer. Beast, go back to sleep.”

Beast yips and ignores him, sniffing Eduardo’s legs as he follows him into the kitchen. Eduardo still looks wary of him, but tentatively pats his head as he sits down at Mark’s table and accepts a beer from the fridge. “He got so big,” Eduardo says, flushing a little when Mark raises an eyebrow at him. “I mean, I saw the pictures. Obviously. He really is like a big, adorable teddy bear.”

“Yeah,” Mark says. “He’s actually an oversized cotton ball pain in my ass, but I guess he can be cute in a certain light. If you like that sort of thing.” He gives Beast his most unimpressed look, and Beast gazes up at him adoringly while Eduardo grins at both of them.

“Don’t lie. No one takes that many pictures of their pet without thinking he’s the cutest dog in the world.”

“Well, he’s definitely superior to all other dogs in that respect, but I’m not fooled by cuteness. I toilet-trained him, I know what a monster he can be.” Eduardo snorts into his beer and shakes his head, and Mark smiles at him, still happy. But he’s also still confused, and he feels like he’s looking at Eduardo’s Facebook page, which has done much to remind Mark lately that he barely knows Eduardo at all anymore. It feels like there’s a stranger sitting at his kitchen table now, petting his dog and drinking his beer, but it’s a stranger who looks like the best friend he cut out of their company almost 8 years ago, the best friend he could have been in love with if he’d ever taken the chance to figure out what that meant.

“Eduardo,” Mark starts, and Eduardo sighs heavily and looks down at the table.

“I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

“We invited you to the party,” Mark says, because it’s true. “We invited you to the ceremony, and you said you couldn’t make it. Then you renounced your citizenship.”

Eduardo winces. “Mark—”

“It’s fine, whatever, all the cool businessmen are doing it these days. But I just don’t—I don’t understand.”

“You invited all the shareholders to the party,” Eduardo says. “And the citizenship thing had nothing to do with it, it was just business. You know all about that, right?”

And there’s the bitter Eduardo Mark remembers. Not the weird one who uses his own Facebook like a PR machine, who pretends to have made nice and let bygones be bygones, even as he shakes Mark’s hand at rare parties like he’s someone he just met. And Eduardo already seems to regret it, frowning hard down at the table, shaking his head. “I mean—”

“Should I have gone to Singapore and waited outside your house? Parked my car down the road and shown up at 4 am and personally invited you to everything?” Mark asks, and a part of him is serious, because that had never occurred to him. Eduardo had never given him any indication that he’d wanted to be included like that, that he wanted to resolve things that completely. The icy void between them that had sprung up a few years after the lawsuit had resigned Mark to never having that resolution, and Eduardo’s renounced citizenship had only confirmed it. “You would have had me arrested.”

fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

Eduardo shakes his head, and it’s self-deprecating and tired. “No. I wouldn’t have. I probably would have said yes. I probably would have told my financial advisor to go fuck himself with his citizenship idea, too.”

Mark really has no idea what to say to that, and he doesn’t dare to hope that it means what he wants it to mean. Instead, he shakes his head, too, and says, “I probably would have keyed your Bentley.”

The laugh that Eduardo lets out is loud and slightly pained, and he buries his face in his arms, piled on the table.

“Oh my God, I know. Shut up, I know.”

“Like, really, Eduardo?” Mark says, voice trembling a little with laughter. “Coming from the guy who once called me a pretentious douchebag for wearing flip-flops. Really?”

“Shut up,” Eduardo groans, and Beast barks a little, concerned, standing up and putting his front paws in Eduardo’s lap. Eduardo peeks out from behind his hands at him, smiling. His eyes are shiny and it makes Mark feel a rush of very old warmth, tired and battered but persevering. “We can’t all spend our billions on adorable Pulis and the city of Newark, you know.”

“Why not?” Mark asks reasonably, and Eduardo groans again, patting Beast obligingly on the head.

They fall into a fairly comfortable silence, which is interesting considering they haven’t actually resolved anything. Mark still doesn’t know why Eduardo is here, or even why Mark’s so happy that he’s here. It doesn’t make sense, and he’s never this comfortable with things that don’t make sense.

“It’s been 8 years,” Eduardo says quietly, and he reaches out with his beer and clinks it gently against Mark’s. Mark tips his own beer and drinks silently. “8 years, and now we’re both very rich, and Facebook—it’s not just ours anymore.”

“It was never just ours,” Mark says, drawing his eyebrows together, but he thinks he knows what Eduardo means, even as he watches Eduardo flinch.

“I know,” Eduardo says, soft and sad. “I know that. It took me 8 years, but I think I finally know.”

“Wardo,” Mark says, and Eduardo’s eyebrows shoot up. His lips press together, eyes wide and shiny, and he looks at Mark, like Mark has any idea what to say next. Mark isn’t good at this, will never be good at this, but he tries to meet Eduardo’s eyes again when he speaks. “Remember the algorithm, on the window at Kirkland?”

Eduardo’s smile is beautiful, and it makes Mark brave. “Yeah. I remember, Mark.”

“I should have asked for more than just the algorithm,” Mark tells him, and the next admission is the hardest, but the most honest. “I just didn’t know how.”

“I would have given you anything,” Eduardo says, and Mark has to swallow hard at that, wishing that that was something he’d known then, too. Eduardo takes a shuddering breath, and says everything else in a pained rush. “And it’s been 8 years, and Facebook belongs to the public, and I have a Bentley and nothing to give you.”

“That’s not true,” Mark whispers, and Eduardo looks at him with burning, penetrating eyes. “You’re here.”

“I’m here,” Eduardo says, chest rising and falling slowly, his breaths soft and harsh in the quiet. “And I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

“I do,” Mark says, because he finally, finally knows. He stands up, and Eduardo stands up, and Beast has fallen asleep in a pile on the floor, a fluffy pile of cotton cuteness at their feet. The sun will be up soon, and Mark woke up 48 hours ago, but when Eduardo lets Mark take his hands, he feels like he could go another 48 without sleeping at all.

And when Eduardo lets himself be kissed, Mark thinks he wouldn’t have to sleep for another 8 years, if it meant keeping Eduardo here with him.

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

...How do I explain what this made me feel. Hmm.

Well, for starters, it's very you even though all the references made it feel more like RPF than TSN fic...

Also, kudos for the references, regardless!

Beast and the citizenship and keying the Bentley and "congratulations" and then.

THEN you brought it back in. With the "douchebag" line and the algorithm and "It was never really ours". I fucking love you. ♥

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

Wow....just wow....I don't know how you managed to incorporate rl!Mark and rl!Eduardo into this story and still make it believable but you did....thank you :)

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

all the love (I want more fics in this "wardo-is-a-playboy-with-a-bentley-mark-has-beast" 'verse xD)

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

Oh man, this... Definitely hit the nail on the head for me. There is just something about seeing these guys, who really, come on, have it all per se, floundering because no matter how together the rest of their lives are, this, them, has never been easy or treated and respected properly... It just makes this more real I guess. I can totally see this happening, and in my crazy little head here, I'm just going to believe this is what happened ;)

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

AGH you wrote fic on the FB float and Eduardo renouncing his citizenship ;_____; marry me

Re: fill: the atlantic was born today (3/3)

Aaargh the references, the sadness, the wistfulness, the hopefulness, the potential....
Oh playboy!Wardo and Beast-lovin!Mark (um okay so that sounds wrong), how I love you in a weird confused 'what even is my life' kind of way.

This Is Fantastic.
