♥ post requests and responses in the comments to this post.
♥ be respectful.
♥ both a pairing/character AND a prompt/kink must be posted.
♥ one pairing/prompt per comment please.

WARN FOR COMMON TRIGGERS, PLEASE

FILL: shifty business part 2/?

(Anonymous)
A/N: Part two! Enjoy! :-)

Dustin was dying to tell Chris about what actually went down last night. Except he couldn't. They were in the Library and this was the one place where the Silence Rule HAD to be kept. It didn't matter how far into the L-Space you were; the Librarian somehow knew if you had broken the silence. It was a lesson learned the hard way for the young wizard.

He was currently pretending to be absorbed in a tiny, green book on Quirmish spells, but he was more focused on drawing a picture of a dog with an awkward extra limb onto the floor; with chalk, of course and NEVER on the book itself. He tried that too and was dunked into the river of Ankh. He almost broke his neck. An involuntary shudder ran through his body at the horrid memory. Dustin thought he was in danger of being thrown into the sludge again when he heard the angry chant of OOK OOK.

"DUSTIN!" It was Mark - who looked really pissed. It was the way his eyes were brighter than usual and the way his brows furrowed rather menacingly. He was charging towards Dustin and Chris, even as the Librarian was trying to cover his mouth.

"Was it YOU?"

"What?"

"Was it you who told the Archchancellor about last night?" Oh, that.

"I haven't even told Chris yet," said Dustin, as he put up his hands.

"Tell me what? I mean, we should get out of here." Chris smiled rather nervously at the Librarian, who was practically wrapped around Mark in an attempt to shut him up. Dustin winced at the thought of the nasty orangutan-arm-shaped bruises.

Once they were outside, the library door shut behind them with a thud. Flinching at the sound, Dustin sheepishly looked at Mark and then at Chris. They both glared as if everything was Dustin's fault.

"For the record, I didn't blab about last night's epic stunt, Mark."

"What are you talking about? You guys really need to tell me. Right now."

"Fine. So Marky Mark," Mark promptly elbowed his friend as a warning, "and I went to the Golem on Rox last night for a nightcap. Erica was there and we were pretty smashed and..."

"She dared me to do something that actually made a different in the city. As if expanding our knowledge on magic isn't enough*. So I c-mailed that spell I developed a couple of nights ago."

"The kind that’s used to glue together a grimoire that’s falling apart. Listen, he froze the entire Clacks system in Ankh-Morpork. For at least ten minutes. Magic trumps, once again." Chris looked stricken, but Dustin could see the hint of admiration in his eyes.

"And? What did the chancellor say?" asked Chris.

"Admissions officer. For the month, at least." Mark's friends scrunched up their faces in sympathy.

"Drinks on me tonight, boys," said Chris, generously.

* Research on magic made a difference in the city - physical changes in space-time continuum. This argument really wasn't about Mark trying to assert his ego. What he didn't mention to his friend was the fact that he insulted the entire witch population by making a particularly ignorant comment about headology and the ability to do certain things that may have a whole section in Ge Fordge's Compenydyum of Sex Majick. Erica was not impressed. Being a proper Lancre witch, she didn't resort to fancy, typical magic that wizards tended to yield; she left Mark to dig his own grave.

so never read the discworld stuff and my brain just completely miss the references. they're really going over my head, but it's interesting to read anyway.
